Profile wrapping is the “art” of applying a decorative material (foil, film, laminate) to the outside of any uniform lineal shape. The profile or substate can be made from any material that is consistent in shape, such as a piece of molding or PVC extrusion. We can wrap around all of the profile or just a part of it. Unlike panel laminating, profile laminating allows the wrapping of very intricate shapes with curves and angles. In addition to surfacing of virtually any linear millwork for trim applications, profile wrapping has become a popular method for surfacing of millwork that is subsequently mitered to fabricate cabinet frames that match cabinet doors thermoformed. Similarly, flat and profiled millwork wrapped can be mitered to create the rails and stiles of five piece cabinet doors having membrane pressed or flat laminated center panels, duplicating the construction and woodgrain patterns of solid wood doors at a fraction of their price, particularly when compared with premium wood species.
